URL encoder / decoder

Encode text for safe use in URLs or decode %xx sequences back to readable characters. Choose full encoding (encodeURIComponent) or structure-preserving encoding (encodeURI). Each line is processed separately.

How to use

  1. 1Paste text, a URL or a list of values.
  2. 2Choose Encode or Decode, and the mode: everything, or keep the URL structure.
  3. 3Tick “+ as space” for form-encoded data.
  4. 4Copy the result.

encodeURIComponent encodes everything except letters, digits and - _ . ! ~ * ' ( ); use it for a single parameter value. encodeURI keeps characters such as : / ? & = # so that a whole URL stays usable.

In form-encoded data a space is written as +. When decoding, + becomes a space; when encoding, spaces are written as + instead of %20.

Broken %-sequences, such as an incomplete UTF-8 character, are left as they are and the line is reported; the rest is still decoded.
